Hantavirus - cruise ship

On 18 May 2026, the World Health Organization (WHO) stated that a total of 11 cases of Andes virus (nine confirmed and two probable), including three deaths have been reported in relation to the outbreak which began on the MV Hondius cruise ship. Previous reports from WHO state that confirmed cases are being treated and isolated in a number of countries (France, Netherlands, South Africa, Switzerland, and USA).
